Paralyzed

I lost my blanket-
The soft, colorful one!
It made me feel warm
After I have shivered for years!
It caressed me to sleep
After eons of sleepless nights!

I grope in the darkness
Only to feel the bitter cold
Prick deep within me,
Freezing my core!
I curl up, as much
As I can!

I feel scared
As the cold threatens to
Shrink and whither me-
And I hear the footsteps
Of death, all around,
As I lie paralyzed, all alone!

I miss you so, my blanket-
I wish I had you with me!
You would have
Warmed me to the core
And made me cling to life,
Had I not lost you like this!
